Forget the sickly sweet store-bought condensed milk and have a go at making your own stash at home! Perfect for our Bounty balls recipe or Vietnamese-inspired iced coffee, we’re excited to share our homemade recipe with you below!
2/3 cup granulated sugar (can use white or coconut sugar)
A pinch of salt
Steps
1
Combine the Mylk Base and water, and blend for 1 minute to make the milk.
2
Combine milk, sugar and pinch of salt in a saucepan and bring to a boil, quickly reducing on low to simmer. Be sure to not let it boil for any longer than a second or two as this can prevent it from thickening up later on in the process. Simmer on low for an hour, stirring every 10-15 minutes until the quantity has halved and turned into a syrup.
3
Don't be alarmed if it doesn't thicken up to what you would expect as it thickens up once cooled. Once cooled, transfer to a clean jar (we love using an old Mylk Base jar) and pop it in the fridge.
